Best Free IPTV Services for Live Streaming

While many of these free services work well, they are not always reliable. Oftentimes, streams are only available in SD (Standard Definition) and typically have buffering issues.

AT&T WatchTV Review

AT&T WatchTV is another favorite among all three IPTV services offered by AT&T because it’s the cheapest option available. It doesn’t require a contract or any equipment, and subscribers can cancel any time if they’re unsatisfied with the service.

Channel Lineup

Channel availability is limited since the monthly subscription plan is relatively cheap. The basic package includes over 35 Channels for streaming.

Some of the choices available include CNN, Cartoon Network, Food Network, Comedy Central, HGTV, MTV, Lifetime, OWN, VH1 and Discovery.

There’s also an option for channel upgrades but not all popular channels are available.

No local channels are offered, however. But this is understandable considering the cheaper monthly rate.

There’s only one price plan offered at $35, which competes with other affordable IPTV services such as Philo and Sling TV’s introductory rate.

Subscribers can also upgrade their channel lineup by adding HBO ($17.99 per month), Cinemax ($13.99 per month), Showtime ($13.99 per month), and STARZ ($13.99 month).

User Interface

The AT&T WatchTV has easy-to-use features but is limited when compared to the AT&T TV NOW plan. For example, you will only find bookmarked TV shows in the My Library section because it doesn’t allow cloud DVR recording.

Similar to AT&T TV NOW, the Search settings does a great job at presenting results. Compared with other IPTV services, it still has to be further developed to reflect more results when typing in searches.

I’m also impressed with the choices presented on the Discover tab since there are new programs that it features regularly.

Streaming and Picture Quality

AT&T requires maintaining at least 8 Mbps for better quality streaming. There’s no need to worry about higher internet speed when subscribed to this plan unlike in AT&T TV NOW because it does not allow for simultaneous streaming.

For mobile data, it’s best to have at least 2.5 Mbps for SD streaming but at least 8 Mbps for HD quality.

I used a 200 Mbps internet connection so there were no lags when streaming using such reliable network. The picture quality, however, is consistent with 720p HD resolution for most programs. If your network connection isn’t as reliable, the service offers adaptive streaming to match your connection.

Cloud DVR Functionality

There’s no option for cloud DVR recording.

Other Issues

Because AT&T WatchTV is one of the most affordable IPTV packages, subscribers do not have any options for Parental Controls, simultaneous streaming on multiple devices, and compatibility with Roku devices.

These limitations explain why the company is able to keep the monthly costs down to only $35.

Furthermore, there’s no option to upgrade for other popular channels such as Bravo, Disney Channel, ESPN and NBCSN. There’s also no news as to whether it will offer more add-ons in the future.

Bottomline

If affordability is something that you highly prioritize, then AT&T WATCH TV is something that you should consider. However, with such low rates come limited features too.

There are fewer channels compared to Philo, but it still offers CNN and TBS (which includes NBA, MLB and events during playoff seasons).

If you’re into other premium channels such as HBO, then you may want to consider AT&T’s other plans as well.

And if you’ve been a cord-cutter for some time already, switching to this service may be disappointing, especially when you’ve gotten used to recording your favorite shows on cloud DVR.
