This article will provide you with complete AT&T WatchTV Review. This is an IPTV Service that hosts basic entertainment channels.
It can be installed on any device including the Amazon Firestick, Fire TV, Fire TV Cube, and more.
For those unfamiliar with IPTV, these streaming services offer live TV channels at a set time delivered over the internet.
Viewers can watch the latest news, sports events, sitcoms and other entertainment shows on an affordable subscription-based service.
To stream Live TV, you need a high-speed and stable internet connection, streaming device such as smart TV or Amazon Firestick, and a subscription to a streaming service.
You can also install a digital antenna should your live TV streaming service provider offer no over-the-air TV networks such as ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC and PBS.
This provides you with the flexibility and full entertainment experience that other types of service providers cannot offer.
TROYPOINT has created a complete list of Streaming Services that provide live TV Channels and more:
Or, if you would like to use a free service, we also have a tutorial that lists these alternatives.
While many of these free services work well, they are not always reliable. Oftentimes, streams are only available in SD (Standard Definition) and typically have buffering issues.
If you want reliable, high quality television with no buffering, TROYPOINT suggests purchasing a paid IPTV Service. These services provide hundreds if not thousands of live HD TV Channels for a small monthly fee.
What is AT&T WatchTV?
AT&T began to compete in the cord-cutting market only in 2016 when it launched its DirectTV NOW service.
After two years, it decided to capture another market through AT&T WatchTV by offering a more affordable plan for cord-cutters (but with no local or sports channels instead).
Aside from AT&T WatchTV, the company currently offers other live TV streaming services:
AT&T TV – requires a contract plus set-top box and is available only in some cities in California, Florida, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, New York, Texas and Washington.
AT&T TV NOW – formerly known as DirectTV Now and comes in several packages (HBO already included).
AT&T WatchTV is compatible with most popular devices such as the Amazon Firestick, which is perfect for cord-cutters.
Overall, AT&T WATCHTV is a great choice for cord-cutters who want basic IPTV programming at a very affordable monthly fee.

AT&T WatchTV Review
AT&T WatchTV is another favorite among all three IPTV services offered by AT&T because it’s the cheapest option available. It doesn’t require a contract or any equipment, and subscribers can cancel any time if they’re unsatisfied with the service.
Channel availability is limited since the monthly subscription plan is relatively cheap. The basic package includes over 35 Channels for streaming.
Some of the choices available include CNN, Cartoon Network, Food Network, Comedy Central, HGTV, MTV, Lifetime, OWN, VH1 and Discovery.
There’s also an option for channel upgrades but not all popular channels are available.
No local channels are offered, however. But this is understandable considering the cheaper monthly rate.

Pricing Packages and Inclusions
There’s only one price plan offered at $35, which competes with other affordable IPTV services such as Philo and Sling TV’s introductory rate.
Subscribers can also upgrade their channel lineup by adding HBO ($17.99 per month), Cinemax ($13.99 per month), Showtime ($13.99 per month), and STARZ ($13.99 month).
The AT&T WatchTV has easy-to-use features but is limited when compared to the AT&T TV NOW plan. For example, you will only find bookmarked TV shows in the My Library section because it doesn’t allow cloud DVR recording.
Similar to AT&T TV NOW, the Search settings does a great job at presenting results. Compared with other IPTV services, it still has to be further developed to reflect more results when typing in searches.
I’m also impressed with the choices presented on the Discover tab since there are new programs that it features regularly.
Streaming and Picture Quality
AT&T requires maintaining at least 8 Mbps for better quality streaming. There’s no need to worry about higher internet speed when subscribed to this plan unlike in AT&T TV NOW because it does not allow for simultaneous streaming.
For mobile data, it’s best to have at least 2.5 Mbps for SD streaming but at least 8 Mbps for HD quality.
I used a 200 Mbps internet connection so there were no lags when streaming using such reliable network. The picture quality, however, is consistent with 720p HD resolution for most programs. If your network connection isn’t as reliable, the service offers adaptive streaming to match your connection.
Cloud DVR Functionality
There’s no option for cloud DVR recording.
Because AT&T WatchTV is one of the most affordable IPTV packages, subscribers do not have any options for Parental Controls, simultaneous streaming on multiple devices, and compatibility with Roku devices.
These limitations explain why the company is able to keep the monthly costs down to only $35.
Furthermore, there’s no option to upgrade for other popular channels such as Bravo, Disney Channel, ESPN and NBCSN. There’s also no news as to whether it will offer more add-ons in the future.
If affordability is something that you highly prioritize, then AT&T WATCH TV is something that you should consider. However, with such low rates come limited features too.
There are fewer channels compared to Philo, but it still offers CNN and TBS (which includes NBA, MLB and events during playoff seasons).
If you’re into other premium channels such as HBO, then you may want to consider AT&T’s other plans as well.
And if you’ve been a cord-cutter for some time already, switching to this service may be disappointing, especially when you’ve gotten used to recording your favorite shows on cloud DVR.
