How To Install Kodi On Android Box

Install Kodi On Android BoxThis step-by-step tutorial will show you how to install Kodi on Android Box and enjoy unlimited movies, tv shows, live streams, sports, and more.

Due to the recent crackdown of people selling loaded Kodi boxes, some Android TV Box manufacturers are shipping these devices without the popular application already installed.  This tutorial will take you through the simple steps of installing Kodi on an Android Box.

In the tutorial below, I am installing Kodi on the T95Z Plus Android Box.  Keep in mind that there are literally hundreds of Android Boxes available but the installation process outlined in the video below will be very similar for all models.

You may ask yourself why you would want to install Kodi on an Android Box?  Once you install Kodi and the necessary 3rd party addons, you will be able to stream free movies, tv shows, live streams, sports, kids movies, you name it.  The 3rd party Kodi addons scrape the Internet for these media files and then provide a nice user interface to view the various movies and tv shows.

As of now, Kodi 17.6 is the most stable release and the video tutorial below will show you how to install this version.  You must have Android Operating System 5.0 or higher installed on your Android box in order to run Kodi 17.6.  The video tutorial below will show you how to check which version is currently installed on your device.

Since most Android Boxes come pre-loaded with Google Play Store, installing Kodi is a breeze.  All you will need is a free Google account that you can get by clicking here and you will be able to install Kodi directly from the app store and it won’t cost you a dime.  Yes, that is correct, all of this is free!

This is not common but for those of you who don’t have Google Play App Store already installed on your Android TV Box, you can easily download the .apk file from here onto a usb flash drive, plug the drive into an available USB port on your box and install from that location with a file explorer on your device.  Just like Google Play App Store, most Android Boxes also come with some sort of file explorer, which usually is identified by a folder icon.

Keep in mind that Kodi won’t do much without the popular 3rd party addons and make sure that you get my free guide below on how to Supercharge your Android TV Box.  This guide provides bonus videos that will show you how to install the very best Kodi addons with the click of a button.  The guide will also show you how to setup a VPN on your Android Box so that you can stream with privacy and not worry about your Internet Service provider logging everything you are doing.

Hi Laurence,

It may have Kodi available for installation. However, oftentimes the TV’s do not have enough power to support streaming apps. That is why a device is recommended.

Troy,
Can you help with installing Kodi on a Smart TV. There are such varying opinions out there and I have looked at a lot of them, so much that I am confused. If a Smart TV does not have the Google play store, Kodi cannot be instralled, right? Is there a way to get the Play Store on a smart TV that does not have it?

Hi there,

It depends on the TV, however, most of them do not have the power to run Kodi.

I have a MS8 plus Android box that I wanted to download Kodi too, but when I go to the play store, the Kodi app does not show up. What am I doing wrong for it not to show up in the play store?
