US Court Says All ISPs Must Block Access to Various Pirate Sites

site blocking order

A US Court has issued a permanent injunction in 3 related cases requiring ISPs across the US to block access to various online streaming sites.

As first reported by TorrentFreak, this groundbreaking case is the first of its kind that we have seen in the United States.

A US court has issued a ruling that will require all Internet Service Providers in the US to block access to three pirate streaming sites.

The sites include:

  • Isreali-tv.com
  • Isreal.tv
  • Sdarot.tv

This comes after numerous film companies joined forces to file copyright infringement lawsuits against these websites.

The lawsuits alleged the sites listed above illegally broadcast streams for copyrighted content without permission.

The movie companies demanded $150,000 in statutory damages for every copyrighted film and the prevention of any films in the future.

A US Court agreed with the plaintiffs and granted default judgments for all 3 cases ordering the website operators to each pay $7.65 million in damages.

However, this was not the only loss the defendants suffered in this lawsuit.

The site operators have also been banned from operating these pirate websites and any other sites in the future.

The judgment also featured one more substantial requirement we have not seen in the past that had nothing to do with the owners of these streaming sites.

It included a court order for US ISPs to block their users from connecting to these domains.

All ISPs…and any other ISPs providing services in the United States shall block access to the Website at any domain address known today…or to be used in the future by the Defendants…by any technological means available on the ISPs’ systems.

This means that every Internet Service Provider in the US must block access to the aforementioned websites for all internet users.

The ruling included a detailed list of nearly 100 ISPs that will now be required to block the sites mentioned in the lawsuit.

This default judgment may prove to be substantial for possible court hearings and rulings in the future.

Because we have not seen a similar court ruling for ISPs like this in the past, it is unclear exactly what to expect in the coming years.

Whether or not Internet Service Providers will challenge this ruling is yet to be seen.

However, it is important to note the magnitude of this judgment and what it may mean for the future.

Site blocking for the sites listed above leaves the door open for other sites to potentially face the same fate.

Users can always connect to a VPN to alter their IP Addresses to a different country and access sites and content that may be blocked in their region.

This will also encrypt your connection making you and your internet traffic completely anonymous.

  1. This does not come as a surprise. It makes me wonder if the courts will start to come after VPNs and require them all to log our data. What can/will we do then. I wouldn’t put it pass the government to make laws protecting copywritten materials. I won’t use unverified apps anymore. Not worth the headache. Thank you. Troy for all this Information. God bless.

  2. Hi Troy
I am having trouble with loading programs onto Kodi. Keeps saying can’t connect to network. I have uninstalled Kodi, reinstalled Kodi, tried again to install the crew. I uninstalled and reinstalled my Max Firestick always using Vanish as my VPN. I have checked for updates. Do you think my provider Shaw is doing this? Or is my firestick had it.

  3. Just a matter of time and knew it would happen. The Internet gustapo is getting ramped up. This is just the beginning. VPN business gonna go thru the roof !!! Still lovin IPVanish, but always looking for better. Smarten up folks, they’re coming for us !!!!

  4. I would guess VPN’s located in the U.S. will be a near future target for the courts after reading this ruling.

  5. This court ruling could be a slippery slope paving the way to complete censorship of all entertainment and social networks.

  6. While using a VPN helps sometimes, it does not always result in a successful service inspite of proper connection. I have used various VPNs and they all suffer from 2 issues: speed, sometimes so low streaming is impossible, then the eternal geo-localization by service providers. For exemple I cannot use my legit sub with Spectrum when I am travelling out of the US.

  7. This is what our government has turned into, control freaks. They want total control over the information we can receive.
Very little we can do about it if we do not stand up and vote the power hungry garbage out of office

  8. Well, torrenting IS what it is: access to another’s intellectual property. Given that, is it any different than trading comic books or borrowing a DVD? If anyone has shared a newspaper, a textbook or watched a movie over the tops of other cars in a drive-in, we’re not clear on how torrents can be ILlegal, but leave it to the big money to harass users.

    Use an ISP, folks!

I think the studios are getting really bad and governments are saying sure we will make laws and enforce. They are attacking VPNs and Pirate Sites. When I heard VPN lawsuits and they win and logging has to be enabled… Makes VPN useless. I will have to check once and again if my VPN gets sued and they have to start logging. TOR might be the answer for the future of internet…but I haven’t investigated it’s level of security.

  10. I smell a rat. I wonder how many ” envelopes” passed between these companies and the judicial system to start the demise of these streaming companies. It is a well known fact that the whole financial system is rotten to the core.

    1. Yes complete BS!! Greedy politicians and governments getting involved in stuff that doesn’t concern them just too bad their pockets. Leave the airwaves and the internet alone and everything else that goes with it!! Happy mother’s Day to you all

    2. ISPs and TV service providers have hundreds of lobbyists and spend millions making sure they pie stays fat and intact.

  11. I didn’t see where these websites were operated. If they were in Israel for instance, wouldn’t a default judgement be inevitable? They wouldn’t have shown up in a US court to fight

  12. Just one more blow to our constitutional rights. How long before we are forbidden to visit any site our government deems as corrupt? It will be easier to just follow their list of the few sites they choose are ok.

    1. As a veteran and an American it seems rather communistic, also blocking the ip addresses is censorship and a violation of our freedom of speech guaranteed in the U.S. Constitution, but they’ve pretty much ignored our rights and freedom.

    2. You’ll have to point out where in the US Constitution we are granted the right to steal property because streaming illegally is just that…stealing. Proprietary property owners have all the right in the world to protect their investment.

      1. Why don’t you whine a little bit. Everybody should feel so bad for the filmmakers not getting as many millions as they could have gotten. I say the hell with them and the hell with the courts making stupid laws just to screw their citizens even more. Everyday I see another one of these big companies paying the politicians so they can rip off and control the people that are supporting their company and the little guy just trying to watch TV. I wish we could I’ll come together and change thing, but that might be work, and everybody’s too busy watching TV after they get off from there real jobs.
        Thank you

  13. It’s all a power grab! All the government and these Hollywood big wigs want is to control everything we do from watching TV to sitting on the toilet. Enough is enough! That’s why there crocked system is falling apart on a hourly basis. They want total control of the money and what’s funny is that there financial system is eroding away. We must all keep fighting and we must protect each other. Guys just keep streaming away!
