The following tutorial will show you how to install Kodi on Firestick and any Fire TV device in 2026.

Kodi is one of the most popular apps to install on an Amazon Fire TV Stick due to its free add-ons and builds. These provide endless entertainment with movies, TV shows, anime, live channels, sports, games, and more.
Kodi is not available through the Amazon App Store so we must side-load it with a free application called Downloader. This sounds like a complicated process but it’s not, and we provide both a video and screenshot tutorial below to walk you through this process.
While there are numerous releases of Kodi available, we recommend using the stable version of the software which right now is version 21.3 Omega.
If you have already installed Kodi on a Firestick or Fire TV device and you want to get the new release, see our tutorial on updating Kodi.

Troy’s Review of Kodi
There are both positive and negative things that users should consider when deciding to use the Kodi application.
What We Like
- Kodi Addons & Builds
- 100% Ad-Free
- Customizable Skins
- 100% Free and Open Source
- Continually Updating
- Supported on nearly any device
What We Don’t Like
- Outdated Interface
- Not beginner friendly
- Third-party add-ons break often
- Nothing streams out of the box
- Playback can stutter on weak devices
Kodi is the original APK for cord-cutters who want to watch free media such as Series, Films, and Live TV.
Since it’s debut, users have been able to install official and 3rd party add-ons to find streaming sources and watch content without a subscription.
While it may be difficult to understand at first, Kodi has the option to install “Builds” which make it an all encompassing platform to browse titles, live television, and much more without the clunky interface.
Many believe that Kodi is dead but that is definitely not the case as the development team is constantly updating the application with new improvements and features.
This one has stood the test of time and is a fabulous application to add to your streaming device for both novices and experts alike.
Kodi Extras
After you have installed Kodi on your Firestick, you will quickly discover the unlimited streaming capabilities this media software provides.
Below we have included some of the most popular uses for Kodi on a Firestick.
Addons
There are hundreds of Kodi add-ons available for installation that provide movies, TV shows, live channels, sports, and much more.

This has become the simplest, most well known way of using the Kodi application and if you are new to this software it is the best way to get started.
There are tons of different addon selections available and these are constantly changing so it is hard to find the best working options.
We have done the work for you, however, and created a thorough list of the Top Choices available today with options such as The Crew, Seren, Umbrella, Magic Dragon, and more.
If you are looking for a more advanced way of streaming with Kodi, you may want to consider a build.
Builds
For an even more streamlined experience with Kodi, we suggest using a Kodi Build. Kodi builds provide numerous Kodi addons in one location for an all-encompassing streaming platform.
Most Kodi addons are built to cover one area of streaming such as Movies/TV Shows or Live TV/Sports.
However, a Kodi Build provides all streaming categories in one location with a unique interface for a fabulous viewing experience.

Visit our best Kodi builds guide to find all the top choices available for Firestick, Android TV, and more.
Skins
Kodi skins let you change the way your Kodi interface looks without affecting how the app works. If you don’t like the default layout, or just want something new, switching skins is a great way to customize your streaming experience.
There are dozens of skins to choose from, and some are built for speed while others focus on design. Popular choices include Aeon Nox: Silvo, Arctic: Zephyr, and Eminence.

Visit our page on the best Kodi skins for more details and how to add these skins to improve your Kodi interface.
Debrid Services
Debrid services like Real-Debrid, TorBox, AllDebrid, and Premiumize give you access to better streaming links inside Kodi add-ons.
These services pull high-quality video sources that are typically buffer-free and play in full HD or 4K. They work with most popular add-ons and builds. A small monthly fee makes a big difference in stream quality and reliability.

Check out our list of premium debrid services for even more options and details.
Subtitles
Kodi has built-in support for subtitles using sources like OpenSubtitles and Subscene. You can search, download, and enable subtitles right from within the player settings.
Subtitles can be turned on automatically or added manually when needed. This feature is perfect for foreign films, hard-to-hear dialogue, or anyone who prefers captions.

Check out our Kodi subtitles tutorial for more information on this process.
