First-time caller, long-time listener.
I wanted to share a recent experience with my 2nd Gen Fire TV Cube. It suddenly bit the dust the other day and got stuck on the Fire TV logo during startup. I called tech support in Mumbai, and after going through the usual unplug-it-and-plug-it-back-in troubleshooting steps, I was ultimately told there was nothing they could do to help.
I ended up ordering a 1st gen Fire TV Stick Max, only to discover it didn’t support the sideloading capabilities I was looking for. Fortunately, I found my old 1st Gen Fire TV Cube in the garage, dusted it off, and got that bad boy running again.
Now here’s the suspicious part: after just one day of using the 1st Gen Cube, the exact same thing happened. It got stuck during startup and became unusable, just like the 2nd gen cube.
At this point, I’m left wondering if these devices are being intentionally phased out So I am left with the conclusion that they are deliberately crashing these machines and cock blocking us. Maybe that’s just my frustration talking, but the timing seems awfully suspicious.
So now I’m anxiously awaiting the release of the new Walmart streaming units so I can get back up and running.
The main reason for posting is to see if anyone else has had a similar experience where a perfectly functional Fire TV device suddenly crashed and became unusable. I’d love to hear if others have run into the same issue or found any solutions.
