Is your Amazon Firestick running slow? This guide will show you how to test Internet speed on Firestick or any Fire TV device in seconds.
Checking your Internet speed is the first step to diagnosing any buffering issues on your Firestick. Internet speed is the number one factor that determines your device’s ability to stream videos and more.
Our experts suggest using one of these three methods to test your Internet speed:
- Amazon’s built-in speed test within your Network Settings
- Installing the Analiti Speed Test application
- Visiting a reliable speed test website on the Silk Browser
We provide step-by-step screenshot tutorials for each one of these methods below.
TROYPOINT Tip: You only need approximately 15 Mbps to enjoy quality playback for 1080p streams. Internet speeds above 25 Mbps are suitable for streaming 4K HD videos. See our Internet Speed Guide for more details.

Final Thoughts
Testing Internet speed on your Firestick or Fire TV device should be the first step to solving any network issues. For best results, we suggest using all of the methods listed above and then comparing speed test results.
If results show that your speed is lagging, you can look into solutions like upgrading your Internet package, using an ethernet adapter, deleting applications, moving your Firestick closer to your Wi-Fi router, or even using a VPN to prevent ISP throttling.

My Firestick gives wildly varying speed results..anywhere from .65mbs to 45mbs… while the Analiti app on the same connected to the same network gives speeds pretty constantly in the 45mbs range. This is on the FireTV connected TV…….. drives me nuts, as the buffering can be really annoying… I have reset my Firestick to factory settings and the buffering seems to be less frequent, but the speed measurements have not improved…. Any thoughts? Ron
Encountering issues with Kodi as all add ons I had is showing RD error. Reached out to Real-Debrid and they directed me to a post about court ruling on piracy. Are there no other add ons that we can use now? Forgive me but I am not tech savvy.
