ACE Files Lawsuit Against Popular IPTV Service “Streaming TV Now”

Streaming TV Now ACE Lawsuit

The Alliance for Creativity & Entertainment (ACE) has filed a lawsuit against the popular IPTV Service “Streaming TV Now’ and its owner/operator.

In a U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, the anti-piracy platform officially filed a civil copyright infringement lawsuit against William Freemon, the alleged operator of Streaming TV Now.

According to ACE, the service “infringes ACE member’s copyrighted works by offering subscription access to thousands of live television channels and over 35,000 pirated movies and shows”.

ACE is notorious for shutting down these illicit services as we have seen the group target many in the past including IPTV Services, 3rd party APKs, and popular streaming websites.

Oftentimes, these services go offline voluntarily after the alliance contacts them directly, usually threatening legal action which was the case for William Freemon and Streaming TV Now. However, it appears that Freemon was not willing to cooperate and ultimately left his service intact.

You can see that the operation is still up and running if you visit the official Streaming TV Now website which still presents membership options that provide users with over 11,000 channels & VOD Content for just $20/month.

With the lawsuit now filed against Freemon and his service, it will be interesting to see how it plays out and whether or not the courts will agree with ACE and force the removal of his operation.

Karyn Temple, Senior Executive Vice President and Global General Counsel for the MPA noted the following:

Mass copyright infringement has a significant impact on the entertainment industry and the U.S. and global economies..

Operators of illegal services, such as Streaming TV Now, profit from pirated content and often mislead consumers about the legitimacy of their services. When infringers, like Freemon, refuse to shut down their infringing services, we are prepared to pursue all legal remedies.

We will keep you informed on this situation as more details are made available. This story was originally published by the Alliance for Creativity & Entertainment.
