Nuvio Removed from Google Play after MPA Complaint

Nuvio has been suspended from the Google Play Store following a DMCA complaint reportedly submitted by the Motion Picture Association (MPA).

This means that the official Nuvio application is currently unavailable for new installations through Google Play.

Those who already have Nuvio installed should still be able to use the application. However, users will need to rely on alternative installation methods to install or manually update Nuvio while the suspension remains in place.

Why Was Nuvio Removed From Google Play?

The Nuvio team addressed the suspension in its Discord channel, with the announcement later being shared on Reddit.

According to the announcement, Nuvio was suspended following a DMCA complaint submitted by the Motion Picture Association (MPA).

The complaint reportedly references six copyrighted movies and television programs.

However, exactly what triggered the complaint is currently unclear.

Nuvio’s developers say they do not yet know whether the complaint relates to artwork associated with these titles or whether the MPA is alleging that Nuvio itself provides copyrighted streams.

The team has requested additional information regarding the complaint and is currently waiting for clarification.

This distinction is important because Nuvio itself functions as a media application that can be expanded through various third-party addons and Plugins.

We’ve Seen This Before With Stremio

Nuvio certainly isn’t the first popular Streaming APK to suddenly disappear from a major app store.

Stremio experienced a very similar situation when its Android application was suspended from Google Play in late 2025.
