Google has revealed a new streaming device that looks to take the place of the popular Chromecast with Google TV.
There have been rumors of a new device from Google since April of this year and it seems that they are finally coming to fruition.
This new device is said to be titled the Google TV Streamer and will become Google’s new flagship media box, ultimately replacing the Chromecast with Google TV.
Unlike its predecessor, this new device will come in the form of a set top box instead of a “dongle” style device that is hidden behind your television set, similar to other android devices including the NVIDIA SHIELD and Fire TV Cube.
It will be “pill shaped” and have a slanted surface along with two cord outputs which are likely power and HDMI sources as you can see pictured below.
The other major change is to the remote that will have the same appearance but much longer and with an added volume toggle on the face as well as a mute button.
Shortcuts for YouTube and Netflix are still provided and the Magic/Star button is available along with the directional pad that is recognized on the Chromecast with Google TV remote.
We don’t have information on specs or hardware that will be provided but we expect a much more powerful device, likely similar to the onn. 4K Pro that was released earlier this year.

Hopefully, pricing will also be similar and under the $100 range to try and compete with the onn. Box and other affordable Android/Google TV devices.
While there is no anticipated release date, many expect to get more information on the Google TV Streamer at the company’s hardware event coming up on August 13th.
