These rights are typically secured by broadcasters who recoup their investment through subscription fees paid by the public. However, some football fans seek out free or cheaper alternatives, turning to pirate streaming platforms to watch live matches.
In recent years, the Premier League has employed various legal strategies to address the piracy problem. These efforts include obtaining blocking orders in multiple countries and spearheading lawsuits that have resulted in prison sentences for some offenders.
While shutting down pirate operations is the ultimate goal, it proves to be a challenging task, as operators of streaming sites and services often take measures to remain anonymous.

Targeting the Domain Registrar
In its latest effort to lift the veil of anonymity, the Premier League has requested a DMCA subpoena to compel domain registrar GoDaddy to disclose all information it holds on the operators of the infringing domains.
The domains in question, which include live-kooora.com, 30.tv, live4.kooora-gooal.com, fctvlive.com, and soccertv4k.com, have varying levels of traffic, with some attracting several million monthly visits.

The Premier League’s request also targets backend domains connected to the popular pirate streaming services EVPad and SVI Cloud.
These platforms, particularly prevalent in South East Asia, have been identified as “notorious markets” for their involvement in unauthorized streaming.
EVPad, for instance, has been described as an “extremely sophisticated” pirate streaming service, providing access to over 1,700 channels, including 75 offering live sports broadcasts.
Identifying the Operators
Through the DMCA subpoena, the Premier League aims to gather crucial information that could help identify the individuals behind these infringing sites and services.
This includes names, addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses, payment information, and other account details. Additionally, the organization has sent a letter directly to GoDaddy, requesting the removal or disabling of access to the infringing content.
GoDaddy’s Response
As of now, many of the domains and services listed in the application remain online. GoDaddy typically requires a court order to take domains offline, so this comes as no surprise.
However, if the DMCA subpoena is granted, GoDaddy will be obligated to hand over the requested account holder information.
While the subpoena is likely to move forward, the usefulness of the obtained information remains uncertain. Many pirate site owners use inaccurate domain registration data, and GoDaddy’s acceptance of cryptocurrency payments may lead to a dead end in the financial trail.
