Olympic Gold Medalist Eileen Gu is being criticized for some remarks she recently made during her time in Beijing.
As first reported by Yahoo!, the San Francisco-born teen is under fire and garnering some harsh criticism for her comments about VPN usage.
In a recent Instagram post, the popular skier replied to a comment asking why she was able to access the social media outlet while others were not.
Gu responded by mentioning the use of a VPN that is available within the App Store.

VPNs are banned by various countries including China where some have even been arrested for their use.
In fact, the Chinese government has removed VPNs from various App Stores including Apple.
The Google Play Store is not available for download in China as well.

She received harsh criticism from various Twitter users claiming ignorance and privilege.
Gu’s use of a VPN is something that Chinese residents are not capable of and many took offense.
