How to Install The Gears Addon on Kodi (FEN Light AM Fork)

The following tutorial shows how to install The Gears Addon on the latest version of Kodi.

The Gears is a premium add-on that provides on-demand movies and TV series. This is a fork of FEN Light AM and was recently updated to V2.3.5 with several fixes and updates.

This add-on only works when paired with debrid services and an external provider source. This means users must integrate a platform such as TorBox or Premiumize to access content. We provide instructions for this following the installation steps.

In the tutorial below we are using an Onn 4K Plus to install The Gears add-on. These same steps also work on any device that runs the Kodi software like Fire TV, Google TV/Android TV boxes, PCs, Macs, tablets, and more.

How to Install The Gears Kodi Addon

• Launch Kodi
• Click the settings icon  

• Click System

• Hover over Add-ons menu item and turn on Unknown sources if not already on

• Click Yes

• Click back on remote to go back to the System page
• Select File Manager

• Click Add source

• Click <None>

• Type the following URL exactly how it is listed here – https://unhingedthemes.github.io and click OK

• Type “gears” or any other name you would like to identify this source as and click OK

• Click the back button on your remote until you are on the System screen. Then click Add-ons

• Click Install from zip file

• Select “gears” or whatever you named the media source in the previous step

• Click the zip file URL – repository.chainsrepo.zip

• Wait for the “Chains Repository Add-on installed” message to appear

• Next click Install from repository

• Click Chains Repository

• Scroll down and select Video add-ons

• Select The Gears

• Click Install

• Wait a minute or two for the add-on to fully install

• Then go back to the Home screen of Kodi and select Add-ons, then choose The Gears

• You have successfully installed The Gears add-on!

Installation is now complete but we are not done yet. As noted above, users must add an external provider source.

Add External Provider Source

Like many other popular addon choices, The Gears requires users to input an external provider source to find streaming links.

For our guide, we will use CocoScrapers. If you don’t already have it installed follow our CocoScrapers Installation Tutorial before integrating into the addon.

1. Open Tools from the home menu.

2. Click Settings.

3. Hover over Premium Accounts and at the top, click Enable for External Scrapers.

4. Choose CocoScrapers.

(You can also use the Gears Scrapers which can be installed from the Red Wizard repo.)

5. Click OK.

How to Pair Debrid Services

In order to stream content from The Gears, we must also authorize a debrid service. In this example we are pairing our TorBox account but this process will also work for Real-Debrid, AllDebrid, Premiumize, etc.

1. From the main menu, select Tools.

2. Click Settings.

3. Hover over Premium Accounts on the left menu and click Authorize under TorBox.

4. Input your TorBox API Key and click OK.

5. Return to Kodi and you should receive a “Success” message. Your debrid service is now integrated for use and setup is complete.

As you may notice after installing, The Gears add-on works very well on almost any Kodi device after you’ve integrated a debrid service.

There are several categories available which includes: Movies, TV Shows, Anime, People, Search, Discover, Random Lists, My Services, Favorites, Settings, and more.

Is The Gears Addon Legal?
