After a decade of helping cord-cutters find the best streaming apps, APKTime and its sister site KodiApps are calling it quits.
The team posted a farewell on their website, thanking the users and developers who kept the project alive.
They called it “a fun and rewarding 10 years” but said other projects now demand their time, and that the Kodi and Android APK scene has become harder to keep up with as apps constantly shut down and change.
We’re sad to see them go. We don’t know what happened behind the scenes, but we appreciate the APKTime crew for years of keeping the community updated, and for naming TROYPOINT one of their two recommended resources on the way out.
Why APKTime Has Been Fading
If you’ve used APKTime lately, this won’t shock you. The app store has been going downhill for months, with broken links and stale listings, and this announcement explains why.
We also wonder whether Amazon played a role. The recent move to kill sideloading on future Fire TV Sticks makes APK stores like this far less useful to the average Firestick owner, and that shrinks the audience these projects were built to serve.
