AniWave, Fbox, and Other Streaming Giants Shut Down

AniWave and Fbox shut down

In recent weeks, the landscape of pirate streaming sites has dramatically changed. Several high-profile sites, including Fmovies, Fboxz.to, AniWave.to, and others, have shut down.

These sites, which had millions of monthly users, are now offline, and their operators are encouraging visitors to turn to legal streaming apps.

The Fboxz.to Shutdown

The first major casualty in this wave was Fmovies, a well-known streaming site for viewing movies and TV shows. Fmovies suddenly went dark, leaving many of its users scrambling for alternatives.

Shortly after, Fboxz.to, a site linked to Fmovies, also shut down. Before its closure, Fboxz.to had garnered over 55 million visits per month, largely benefiting from Fmovies’ demise.

Interestingly, unlike Fmovies, which vanished without a trace, Fboxz.to left a farewell message to its users. The message expressed gratitude to users and urged them to start paying for the content they consume as a way to respect the creators behind the movies and shows.

This plea for legal consumption of content marks a sharp turn from the site’s previous stance, which was centered around providing free, pirated media.

A Familiar Farewell Message

The farewell message from Fboxz.to echoed a similar message posted by 123Movies, a major pirate streaming site that shut down in 2018 following international law enforcement action.

The striking similarity in the language used in these messages suggests a possible connection between the operators of these sites. After 123Movies was taken down, Fmovies rose to prominence, and now that Fmovies is gone, its affiliated sites are also falling one by one.

While there is no official confirmation, it is highly likely that recent enforcement actions are behind these shutdowns.

The Motion Picture Association (MPA) and the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE) have been actively pursuing pirate streaming sites, particularly those based in Vietnam, where many of these operations are believed to be headquartered.

AniWave Shuts Down

AniWave.to, another major site linked to the Fmovies network, also announced its closure recently. AniWave, formerly known as 9anime, had an astonishing 170 million visits per month.

The popular anime streaming website posted a similar farewell message to that of Fboxz.to, emphasizing the need to switch to legal alternatives. The message highlighted the improvements in legal streaming options and urged users to respect the content creators by paying for their work. The operators posted the same message on Reddit.

AniWave’s shutdown has been mirrored by other related sites, including AnimeSuge.to and Anix.to, all of which have posted the same message.

And of course after a few seconds of research, we found a copycat “AniWave” website with the exact same interface.

The Collapse of a Pirate Streaming Empire

The shutdown of these sites indicates a broader collapse of a once-thriving pirate streaming empire. Sites linked to Fmovies are disappearing rapidly, with no indication that they will be replaced by new pirate sites anytime soon.

The operators’ sudden shift towards advocating for legal streaming is a significant departure from their previous activities. The collapse of these sites will likely have a significant impact on the availability of pirated content online.

With major players like Fmovies and AniWave out of the picture, users may find it harder to access free pirated content, potentially leading to an increase in the use of legal streaming services.
