A new update to Firestick and Fire TV devices was rolled out by Amazon earlier this week. The main reason for this upgrade was to bring back the ability to move installed applications.
This feature was previously removed and replaced with a “Pinning” option. Amazon received tons of complaints about this change and luckily the old format has been restored.
While most updates install an entire new software version, this one only updates certain parts of the device.
The “Move” Applications feature allows users to put their favorite apps in locations they prefer. Allowing you to easily navigate to your favorite options.
If you would like to Move applications, simply press the Menu button (3 horizontal lines) located on your device’s remote.
IMPORTANT: If you would like to add more apps that are restricted on the Amazon App Store, it is necessary to install a VPN for Firestick, Fire TV, Fire TV Cube. Click on the link to learn how.

NOTE: If you do not see the option to “Install System Update” as pictured below, you may have to wait until your device’s update arrives. I suggest checking every couple days until this option is available.

1. From the main menu, Hover over Settings and scroll to the right to Click My Fire TV
2. Click About
3. Scroll down and click Install System Update. You can also click “Check for Updates” to refresh for any updates.

4. Wait for the software installation to finish
That’s it!
Your device should restart with this update now installed.
If you find the device will not restart, this can easily be done pressing the Select or middle button and the play/pause button at the same time for 5 seconds.
Users can also Reset Firestick/Fire TV which will restore your device to factory settings.
