ChitramTV, a popular IPTV Service, has been targeted with a copyright infringement lawsuit in US Court.
DISH Network is the plaintiff in the lawsuit, claiming the provider obtains and distributes its channels without permission.
There are numerous “resellers” of ChitramTV that are located in various countries across the world.
These include Germany, the UK, and the US.
According to their official website, users can stream over 500 live TV channels and 10,000 movie titles.
ChitramTV isn’t the first IPTV Provider that DISH has targeted.
In 2018, DISH was awarded over $90 million in damages from once-popular Set TV.
The judgment also declared that SET and its owners are permanently banned from receiving, retransmitting, or copying any of DISH’s satellite transmissions or programming without permission.
DISH is likely looking for a similar outcome in its latest lawsuit against ChitramTV.
The television provider alleges that they have sent over 150 copyright infringement notices to ChitramTV since 2014.
In 2017, the IPTV Provider temporarily removed transmissions from DISH but has since returned to using these streams.
