Apple Decided Against a TV Stick Because It Was “Too Cheap”

Cord cutters and streamers have a plethora of options to choose from when it comes to looking for a streaming device to purchase and use to watch your favorite content.

Apple TV Stick

Many of the most popular choices today are in the form of a streaming “stick” that users can plug directly into their HDMI port and doesn’t require the use of an HDMI cord.

This includes the likes of the Amazon Firestick which is likely the most popular media streaming stick today due to the built in Fire TV Operating System and its ability to sideload 3rd party applications.

The main reason these platforms have become so popular is because users can install streaming apps to watch Movies, Shows, and Live TV in HD without breaking the bank.

Oftentimes, Amazon runs sales on Fire TV devices and even Walmart offers the onn. Google TV Stick that is currently available for less than $15.

While these TV Sticks are generally the most known options for streaming, there are also other “premium” devices that have added benefits for a more advanced streaming experience.

One of these is the Apple TV 4K that provides blazing fast streaming and tons of other features such as iCloud capabilities, integrated FaceTime, and up to 128 GB of internal storage so you can install all of your favorite applications.

Unfortunately, those interested in the Apple TV 4K will need to pay over $100 as the 64 GB model is currently priced at $129 while the 128 GB option is available for $149.

Recently, we learned that the tech conglomerate was considering developing an Apple TV Stick that would bring the Apple TV Operating System to a smaller, more affordable device.

It appears as though this idea was ultimately shot down by the marketing team as it would be “too cheap” and would reduce the Apple brand as they are known for developing and selling more “premium” devices.

This was all relayed in a tweet from Mark Gurman, who is a Chief Correspondent for Bloomberg and expert on Apple, Tech, and other devices.

Many have hoped that Apple would release a more affordable streaming device but it seems as though Apple has shut this idea down in the past.

There are rumors that a new Apple TV Stick could be launched sometime in the near future and we will keep you updated on this if any new information is provided.

In the meantime, we want to know what you think of Apple shutting down a possible TV Stick with a smaller price tag. Would you have any interest in purchasing this device? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
