ExpressVPN, Proton, and CyberGhost are all named in fourteen new blocking orders Canal+ won days before the football season kicks off.
Vice-President Irene Benac signed the batch on July 17, split between the 2026/2027 Champions League and Premier League campaigns.
They target 73 domains, including ones trading on brands like Totalsportek, LiveTV, and Kevinsport, plus several IPTV gateways.
Why Switching DNS or VPNs Will Not Help in France
Orange, SFR, Free, and Bouygues Telecom carry the heaviest load, since they must cut off each listed domain.
The rest closes bypasses. Switch resolvers and you still hit a wall, because Google DNS, Cloudflare, Quad9, and DNS4EU all appear, the same reach courts applied to DNS providers earlier this year.
Cloudflare has it worse, since the rulings cover its CDN and reverse proxy too. Google and Bing were told to strip the domains from French results, following the pattern of pirate services pulled from search listings.
None of it is fixed either. Arcom can approve fresh targets all season, with Premier League blocks running through May 30, 2027.

Both lists come to 73 entries, though only 58 are unique. Fifteen sites were hit twice, once per competition.
The pattern tells you what these operators are doing. Kevinsport alone runs six cheap extensions, so blocking one accomplishes little when five siblings stay live.
VPN Providers Fought Back and Lost
Canal+ named Proton, CyberGhost, and ExpressVPN, dropping NordVPN and Surfshark without explanation, after earlier French pressure on VPN brands.
Two of them asked the court to wait on an EU ruling that had shielded a VPN from liability. The judge refused, saying that case involved lawful material, not stolen match feeds.
That distinction is the part I would watch. The protection VPN companies just won in Europe stops at a sports rights dispute, exactly where these orders keep landing.

Naming ExpressVPN and Proton shows how far this reach now extends, yet Totalsportek clones reappeared quickly after the last sweep. Four days later, Parliament passed a law swapping this manual process for real-time blocking during live matches.
Fans keep reaching for these sites because legitimate football costs a fortune across too many apps.
