US Authorities Seize Pirate Sports Domains During Super Bowl

U.S. law enforcement has ramped up efforts against pirate sports streaming websites, seizing dozens of domains during the Super Bowl.

US Authorities Seize Pirate Sports Domains During Super Bowl

The timing of the takedown suggests a deliberate move to disrupt unauthorized viewing of one of the most-watched broadcasts in the country.

Super Bowl Sparks Anti-Piracy Efforts

The Super Bowl attracts massive audiences, both through legitimate broadcasts and unauthorized live streams. This longstanding issue has been on the radar of federal authorities for over a decade.

Back in 2010, the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) executed a similar operation during the big game.

This year, history repeated itself. While the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs battled on the field, federal agencies took action against unverified sports streaming websites.

At least 40 domain names, including popular platforms like Streameast, Crackstreams, and Totalsportek, were taken offline.

How the Domain Seizures Work

Visitors to the seized websites were met with a government banner stating that the domains were confiscated under Title 18, U.S. Code, Section 2323, which deals with copyright violations.

The notice emphasized that distributing copyrighted material—including sports broadcasts—without authorization is illegal.

Though authorities have not yet issued an official press release, the domains now point to SEIZEDSERVERS.COM, a DOJ-controlled nameserver frequently used in similar takedowns.

Final Thoughts – Will Seizures Make a Lasting Impact?

These Super Bowl domain seizures send a clear message from U.S. authorities: illegal streaming will not go unchecked.

However, as past enforcement actions have shown, shutting down a handful of domains is unlikely to permanently stop pirate services.

Until sports content becomes more accessible and affordable for consumers, demand for these unauthorized platforms will persist.
