This quick guide will show you how to turn off protected browsing for Comcast Xfinity Internet service.
Special thanks to Jeremy M. for sharing this with me.
Jeremy was getting a 404 error when trying to install streaming apps (APKs) through Downloader.
He contacted Comcast Xfinity support and they told him to deactivate the protected browser setting.
Once he did this, he could then install APKs through Downloader without any issues.
How to Turn Off Protected Browsing for Comcast Xfinity
If you are an Xfinity user and are having problems installing various APKs, more than likely this will fix your problem as well.
The easiest way to do this is by changing this setting inside the Xfinity xFi application.
You can download the free Xfinity xFi App through the Apple App Store or Google Play. You can then sign in as a primary or unrestricted secondary user to use xFi.
If you have trouble logging into the application, you should reach out to Xfinity customer support for help.

1. Open the Xfinity xFi app and login.
2. Under ‘Security’ tap the ‘Protected Browsing’ option.

3. Toggle the button to turn it off.
