Throughout the past several years, YouTube (Google) has been trying to get rid of ad-free applications and blocking browsers that do the same. There was an instance last year where SmartTube was removed by Google but the app is now back and working.
While no account is required, users can still sign in with a Google account for recommended videos, favorites, playlists, and more.
SmartTube can be installed on any device that runs the Android operating system. This includes the Amazon Firestick, Fire TV, and Android TV/Google TV devices.

How to Install SmartTube on Firestick & Android TV
SmartTube has both a Stable release and a Beta release for those interested in testing the latest features and bug fixes. You can install either platform from the TROYPOINT Toolbox using our guide below.

In this guide, we are installing SmartTube on our Onn 4K Plus, but these instructions also work on any Fire TV, Android TV, or Google TV device.
1. You must first install the Downloader app on your device. If you haven’t done this, refer to our Downloader Tutorial. Make sure it is the official Downloader app by AFTVNews.
2. Launch Downloader and place your cursor in the URL box and click the OK button on your remote to open the keyboard.
3. Type the Downloader Code for the TROYPOINT Toolbox which is 250931 and click Go.
4. You are now presented with the TROYPOINT Toolbox home screen.
5. Scroll down to find SmartTube (stable & beta) and click download for your preferred app. We recommend using the Stable version as the beta release likely has bugs/errors.

6. Wait for the app to download.
7. Select Install.
8. You will then encounter SmartTube Ready to launch! message. Select Done.
9. Click Delete.
10. Choose Delete again to remove the installation file.
11. Launch the newly installed SmartTube app from your device home screen.
12. You have installed SmartTube and can now start streaming YouTube videos without ads.
How to Sign Into Your YouTube Account
After installing SmartTube, users can easily sign into their YouTube account for personalized content and playlists.
1. In the left-hand corner, select the Account icon.
2. Choose Sign-In
3. You are then given an authorization code. Make note of this code.
4. Go to youtube.com/activate and enter the authorization code from the step above.
5. You will then encounter device connected message.
Authorization is now complete! You can return to SmartTube to see the sign in complete message. Enjoy!

- Recent malware incident affecting the developer’s build environment may concern privacy-focused users, even though the issue has been resolved
Is SmartTube Legal?
According to its developers, SmartTube is a third-party YouTube client built using open-source code.
The app itself does not host or distribute any video content. Instead, it simply serves as a tool for accessing videos already available on YouTube.
So while using SmartTube to watch videos is legal, downloading content from this platform may be illegal and is not recommended.

Is This App Safe to Use?
While testing SmartTube, we always want to scan the official APK file with VirusTotal to check for safety. Here is the screenshot of the scan results.
VirusTotal did not find any suspicious files or malware within the APK file. However, this does not mean we shouldn’t protect ourselves when streaming content from this unverified app.
The best way to do this is with a VPN that will secure your identity and anonymity when using unverified applications.
