Amazon has announced some new additions to its Fire TV lineup at its annual Device & Services Event.
This includes an all-new Fire TV Cube 3rd generation as well as an upgraded Fire TV Remote named “Alexa Voice Remote Pro”.
Many will welcome a new Fire TV Cube as this device hasn’t seen an upgrade since the 2nd generation that launched in October 2019.
Users can expect various upgrades to both devices that are available for pre-order right now.

The most notable upgrade to the Fire TV Cube is the octa-core 2.0 GHz processor which will make it 20% more powerful than its predecessor.

This will improve overall device speed and quality including faster app launch speeds and smoother navigation.
In addition, the device will feature “Super Resolution Upscaling” which provides better detail, contrast, and clarity, especially when streaming ultra-high definition 4K content.
This is similar to NVIDIA SHIELD devices which are considered the most powerful media devices available.
The Fire TV Cube will also include an HDMI Input port and a USB Port to connect various entertainment devices and more.
Those yearning for an ethernet connection will also have the ability to connect via the all-new ethernet port.
Other advanced improvements include:
- Wi-Fi 6E Support
- All-New Fabric Exterior
- Built-In Speaker
- AV1 Video Decoding

The 3rd Generation Fire TV Cube is priced at $139.99 and will be released on October 25th.

This “premium” remote control has tons of added features not included in other Fire TV remotes.
Notable upgrades include:
- Remote Finder feature
- Customizable Buttons
- Motion Activated Backlighting

The all-new Alexa Voice Remote Pro is priced at $34.99 and will be released on November 16th.

If I purchase a fire TV cube, can I get rid of my Harmony Hub?
Thanks,
Bob
Still looking for a gigabyte Ethernet port with that kind of processor
I will not buy any new Amazon streaming device until they add more memory to it.
It should have at least 3 GB of memory. Everything they make has only 2 GB or less
of memory. I’ll have to pass until they increase the memory.
I really love my fire cube and I have the second version. I use an OTG cable and have a 64 gig flash drive plugged into that for additional space. I have most of my apps and there is a lot of them installed on that drive. This new third edition of the cube sounds great for the added features but the ones I would benefit from are the supposed 20% faster with that new quad processor, perhaps the scaling of older movies to hire resolution that the new cube is capable of. However, this is way more than twice the price and I’m not sure 20% justifies that. I think I’ll just wait until the price drops considerably.
Thanks for keeping me updated on everything Troy I may not open all the updates when they come but i am old man with limited computer skills so i save all the updates and follow instructions when i can. Your’s sincerely Dennis
It’s October 18,2022 and BeeTV 3.3.2 was working fine last nite and this morning it says problem with server switching to lite version. Any problems on your end and if so any solutions?
I want to keep my 2nd Gen Cube because I have all my stuff on it. When I get the 3rd Gen Cube will I be able to use the new remote for both? Thanks.
I’ve been waiting for this upgrade since I purchased the 2nd generation. But the big question is how to transfer what I have working now on the 2nd generation or must we start over?
Does anyone know if the cube 3rd gen includes expanded memory like the stick 4K max?
Hi Mitch due due to the fact that they are using Fire OS 7 which is same as the current Cube and newer Firesticks that do support this, I would believe that it will work just fine.
Troy,
Thank you as always!! You have kept me and friends up to date. If you didnt we would be in the hands of comcast. N
Thanks for the info. Been waiting for the 3rd gen Cube! Will definitely be upgrading. They actually listened!
I had the 1st Cube and I thought it was great. Definitely we’ll be buying this one . If for nothing else the extra I’m bored storage space. The remote looks very interesting as well . There’s a $40 off coupon code for the cube by itself,(cube4k), But when you try to apply it to the cube/remote bundle it doesn’t work. Thanks for the review Troy.
worked for me first time!!!???
Are you guys talking about applying the 4KCUBE code on Amazon check out when pre-paying the new 3rd gen Cube? I just tried it and it doesn’t work.
I used the code 4KCUBE and got the $40 off. I currently have a 2nd gen Cube along with various FireSticks. I can’t wait to upgrade to this. Think it will be a NVidia Shield killer?
I do not want to buy anything new until the raise the memory I must have four right now and I kept upgrading but now .no and I have given away two. I must say their remote is better than my TV remote can use it on the 2nd floor when tv on 1st floor
Thanks Troy for all your advice and help. I very much appreciate it.
