U.S. authorities have seized over 200 domains linked to major piracy brands like BuffStreams, VIPBox, and dozens of others.

The operation coincided with the Super Bowl, ensuring maximum disruption to unauthorized broadcasts.
These takedowns targeted .DEV and .APP domains of popular sports streaming websites. Many were registered through Porkbun, an American domain registrar, suggesting a coordinated enforcement effort.

IPR Center Now Controls Seized Domains
The National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center (IPR Center) is now listed as the new owner of these domains.

Unlike past seizures, most of these sites do not display the usual government seizure banner. Instead, they show SSL certificate errors or are redirected to seizedservers.com, confirming government control.
Google Registry and Porkbun’s Role
All affected .DEV and .APP domains were tied to Google Registry, raising questions about whether Google acted directly or was legally compelled to comply.
Porkbun, the registrar for these domains, may have played a role, particularly if they were controlled by a single account holder.
Regardless of how the seizures happened, these domains are now in U.S. government hands, making them inaccessible to users.

What’s Next?
Despite this major enforcement action, history shows that pirate operators often resurface under new domains.
Many sites have already begun shifting users to new URLs, alternative TLDs, or decentralized platforms that make enforcement harder.
However, if Google Registry and major registrars continue cooperating with authorities, it may become harder for these sites to return.
Authorities may have won this battle, but the war on pirate streaming is far from over.
