Pavel Durov, the CEO of the extremely popular messaging app Telegram, was arrested by French Authorities last week in connection to crimes related to his online platform.

Telegram is one of the most well-known, widely used applications available today with over 800 million users across the world.
Many use it as a means to communicate and share media/files in a private group setting with end-to-end encryption for user privacy and safety. In fact, it has become an increasingly popular tool for IPTV Developers and other outlets who want to ensure their messages are private.
However, it appears this form of encryption has led authorities to pursue the Telegram CEO for failing to mitigate misuse on the platform for various criminal activities.
Durov’s arrest came after a warrant was issued by French agency OFMIN, a new law enforcement group that aims to prevent violent crimes against minors.
Alleged offenses for Durov all stem from Telegram’s failure to moderate properly against crimes such as drug trafficking, cyberbullying, sexual exploitation, and the promotion of terrorism.
For years, there have been questions surrounding the app’s role in initiating problems as many claim that it can be used as a tool to spread “disinformation” and incite violence.
There have been numerous attempts by authorities to obtain user data from the app, however, Durov shut down all of these requests claiming that users enjoy the platform for its “independence”, “Privacy”, and “freedom”.
Telegram released an official statement regarding the arrest, noting that Durov “has nothing to hide and travels frequently in Europe.”

Privacy and security are two of the main reasons that users flock to encrypted services which have become popular in all forms including options such as StartMail that will keep your emails entirely private and encrypted.
With hundreds of messaging apps available today, it appears as though end-to-end encryption is what led authorities to target Telegram as similar applications do not have law enforcement agencies seeking customer data.
Privacy has always been a main concern for TROYPOINT users and this is why we preach the importance of online safety with the help of outlets such as cryptocurrency and a trustworthy VPN Provider.
