Change Animation Scale on Firestick or Android TV/Google TV

This guide will show you how to change the animation scale on Firestick and Android TV/Google TV systems.

Changing the animation scale speeds user navigation within the launcher.  Switching between pages and menus within the launcher will be much quicker once you make these changes.

You will notice a big boost in performance on your streaming devices after tweaking these settings.

This process is simple on Android TV/Google TV systems because we can change this setting in Developer Options.

Unfortunately, the Amazon Fire TV devices don’t provide this setting so we must issue ADB commands to get the job done.  Don’t worry, this sounds more complicated than it really is.

The following video will show you exactly how to do this.  The included screenshot guide below provides the general steps but there’s important details not provided that the video goes though.  We suggest first watching the video from start to finish and then use the screenshot guide for a basic outline.

Update: you should be using 0.5 instead of 0.0.  See updated video above for changing existing settings quickly within ADB Shell Remote App.

settings put global animator_duration_scale 0.5

settings put global transition_animation_scale 0.5

settings put global window_animation_scale 0.5

Here are the general steps to change animation scale on Firestick & Android TV/Google TV systems.

Android TV/Google TV

1. Click gear icon and enter settings menu.

2. Choose System.

3. Click About.

4. Click Android OS build 7 times to enable developer options.

5. Go back to System screen and go into Developer options.

6. Change all 3 animations scale settings to .5.

Your page/menu transitions within Android TV/Google TV will be much faster now!

Firestick / Fire TV Cube

The following guide requires that you install the free Downloader app and setup the TROYPOINT Toolbox.  If you haven’t already done this please refer to video above or following guide.

TROYPOINT Toolbox

1. Go into My Fire TV in settings screen.

2. Look for Developer options.

3. If Developer options isn’t displayed go into About.

4. Click the name of your Fire TV device 7 times to become a developer.

5. Go back to previous screen and go into Developer options.

6. turn on ADB debugging.

7. Download and install Remote ADB App through TROYPOINT Toolbox.

8. Open Remote ADB Shell app.

9. Input these connection settings and click Connect button.

10. Click checkbox next to Always allow from this computer and click OK button.

11. Input animator duration scale setting.

12. Enter transition animation scale setting.

13. Type in window animation scale setting.

Your Firestick animation scale settings are now changed and you can enjoy a faster user interface/launcher.
