Surfshark Introduces New Everlink VPN Infrastructure

Surfshark is changing how VPN connections work with a new feature called Everlink. Instead of relying on older methods like kill switches or manual reconnects, Everlink keeps you securely connected to your VPN without any manual effort.

It works in the background to provide a more reliable and safer experience.

This new feature is now available across all major platforms for Surfshark users using the WireGuard protocol with nothing extra to install or configure.

What Is Surfshark Everlink?

Everlink is a “self-healing” server system that kicks in when something goes wrong. If a server fails or goes down for maintenance, Everlink moves your connection to a working server right away. The change is automatic and doesn’t require you to do anything.

Your VPN connection doesn’t drop. Your IP address stays hidden. Your data stays encrypted. That means fewer interruptions and better protection while using Surfshark.

This technology is patented (US11190491B1, US20240080302A1) and available across the globe through Anycast IP addresses. It’s built for both speed and stability.

How Does It Work?

Standard VPNs set up a direct path between your device and one server. If that server has a problem, the VPN drops, and you have to reconnect. It’s not ideal, especially if you’re using public Wi-Fi or handling personal data.

Surfshark’s Everlink changes the game. It builds in a backup layer right from the start. If a problem pops up, Everlink re-routes your tunnel through another live server. Your connection never breaks, and you remain protected the whole time.

You probably won’t even notice anything happened — and that’s exactly how it’s supposed to work.

Why Does Everlink Matter?

VPN stability is often taken for granted until something fails. When a connection drops, it can expose your real IP address or leave your data open to threats. Most services use kill switches to deal with this, cutting your internet entirely until the VPN reconnects.

Everlink fixes the problem differently. Instead of killing the connection, it fixes it in real time. That means:

  • No service drops
  • No exposed IP addresses
  • No need to reconnect manually

For anyone who uses a VPN daily, this brings peace of mind and a smoother online experience.

How Is It Different from a Kill Switch?

A kill switch stops your internet connection when your VPN stops. It’s meant to protect you, but it interrupts whatever you’re doing. You have to manually restart your VPN session after that.

Everlink takes a different route. It doesn’t cut your internet. It repairs the broken connection silently and keeps you online, all while keeping your data safe and private. You don’t need to do a thing.

This makes Everlink much more useful for people who work remotely, stream content, or rely on consistent privacy protection.

How to Use Everlink

You don’t have to set anything up. If you’re a Surfshark user and you’re using the WireGuard protocol, Everlink is already active. Here’s how to make sure you’re using the right settings:

1. Open the Surfshark app and click Settings.

Not Available on Android TV or Fire TV Yet

Everlink is currently available on all major platforms except Android TV and Fire TV.  Hopefully this is a feature that Surfshark adds to these important operating systems.

A Silent Upgrade That Makes a Big Difference

With Everlink, Surfshark has raised the bar for VPN reliability. While most features try to fix problems after they happen, Everlink prevents them from happening in the first place. Whether you’re streaming, browsing, or just checking email at a coffee shop, Everlink keeps you online and protected without you lifting a finger.

It’s a rare case where doing nothing gives you more control. And that’s what makes this upgrade stand out.

Final Notes/Thoughts

Surfshark users should take full advantage of the new Everlink technology that provides an added layer of security to your VPN Connection. For more information, check out Surfshark’s video guide below.

  1. I currently use Surf Shark VPN because of Troy Point’s recommendation. When I first got it worked great. Now when I use it I’m unable use a good number of websites unless I turn it off or I have to try multiple protocols, and even that doesn’t most of the time. I chatted with Surf Shark support, and they were unable to assist me.

  2. With this new Everlink VPN Infrastructure now being implemented should we still make sure the Kill Switch option under VPN Settings remains turned on? Please let me know. Thank you.
