A new feature is coming to Firestick and Fire TV Devices that will likely improve your streaming experience.
Amazon has announced that these popular media devices will receive an update to Alexa that will use AI technology to assist in the search for content to watch.
This upgrade will help users spend less time trying to find a Movie or Show to watch, as Amazon noted that “the average streaming customer spends more than 10 minutes searching for options each time they access their streaming services”.
This latest improvement comes 10 years after Amazon officially launched Alexa on Firestick/Fire TV and hopes to help those struggling to find their next film or series.
Using the new feature is as simple as clicking the Alexa button and voicing your command. Some examples from Amazon of what users can say include:
Alexa, show me movies about dog and human friendships
Show me pschological thrillers with suprise endings
What movie has the line, ‘You’re killing me Smalls?’
You can also search by genre, plot, as well as actors/actresses and famous lines in these movies or shows.
The new experience is built to be personalized for each user and will take into account your previous streaming choices from Prime Video and other applications.
It will also note the content options that are free/paid so you can adjust your search based on these criteria.
This new feature has already begun rolling out to Firestick/Fire TV Devices running the Fire Operating System 6 and above. Those with earlier models can expect to see this added in the next few weeks.
