ACE Shuts Down Photocall TV Streaming Website

The Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE) and DAZN have successfully shut down Photocall TV, a major streaming operation that offered unauthorized access to over 1,000 channels.

Settlement Reached with Photocall TV Operator

ACE and DAZN investigators identified the individual behind Photocall TV and traced the operation to Spain.

The Motion Picture Association, which leads ACE, contacted the operator directly. Both parties reached a settlement agreement that resulted in the immediate closure of Photocall TV.

The official website (photocall.tv) attracted more than 26 million visitors over the past year. Users could access 1,127 television channels from 60 different countries through the service. Many of these channels broadcast live sports programming.

Sports Content Drew Heavy Traffic

DAZN Iberia CEO Oscar Vilda explained that Photocall TV redistributed content from several major sports properties. The service included coverage of MotoGP, Formula 1, Serie A soccer, the NFL, NHL, and WTA tennis events. Club channels such as Real Madrid TV, Barça TV, and Betis TV were also available.

“Content theft harms the entire sports ecosystem,” Vilda stated. He emphasized that the joint anti-piracy effort protects rights holders and allows fans to watch sports through legitimate channels.

Spain generated nearly 30% of Photocall’s total traffic. Mexico accounted for over 13% of visitors. Germany, Italy, and the United States each contributed approximately 6% of the site’s audience.

Of course some are still capitalizing from the “Photocall TV” name as a quick Google search resulted in clone websites and a suspicious app in the Google Play Store.

ACE Continues Enforcement Campaign

Larissa Knapp, Chief Content Protection Officer at the MPA, stressed that enforcement actions will continue. Knapp stated that “deterrence works, and we will continue pursuing illicit operations that transmit live content illegally.”

ACE designed its enforcement strategy to protect both content owners and viewers while preserving access to legal streaming services. All former Photocall TV web addresses now redirect visitors to ACE’s “Watch Legally” page.

Final Thoughts

This shutdown represents another victory for ACE and anti-piracy authorities fighting unauthorized streaming. However, thousands of similar operations continue to serve millions of users worldwide.

The settlement shows that service operators can face legal consequences regardless of location. Viewers should use verified streaming platforms to avoid potential legal issues and security risks.
