How to Control Fire TV Using Voice & Echo Product

1. The first thing you must do is download and install the Amazon Alexa app on your phone or tablet.  This app is compatible with both Android and iOS.  After installing it, log in to your account or create one if you don’t already have one.  Note:  The Fire TV(s), Fire TV Stick(s), and Echo device(s) mentioned below must all be linked to the same account that you log in to in the Amazon Alexa app.

2. After logging into your account, select the 3 horizontal bars in the upper left-hand corner.

3. Then select Music, Video, & Books from the menu.

4. Select fireTV, then from the next menu tap LINK YOUR ALEXA DEVICE.

5. Now select the Fire TV or Fire TV stick that you would like to control using your voice.  You can only select one at this time.  Then tap CONTINUE.

6. Then select which Echo device(s) you would like to be able to control your Fire TV(s) and/or Fire TV stick(s) with.  You can select as many or few as you would like.  Then tap LINK DEVICES.

7. Finally, if you would like to control additional Fire TVs or Fire TV sticks, tap on LINK ANOTHER FIRE TV and repeat the above steps.  If not, tap on RETURN TO FIRE TV.

Common Echo Voice Commands for Fire TV/Stick

Now that you have successfully learned how to control Fire TV using only your voice, see a list of common commands that you can use.

To play a movie or TV show on Amazon, say “Watch [title].

To play a movie or TV show on other supported apps, say “Watch [title] on [app].

To search for a movie or TV show on Amazon, say “Search for [movie/TV show].

Other searches are: “Find [title/genre].” or “Show me titles with [actor].

You can also search within supported apps by saying:

Search for [movie/TV show] on [app].

Find [title/genre] on [app].

Show me [movies/TV shows] on [app].

Find [actor] movies on [app].

You are also able to control playback by saying:

Play.

Pause.

Stop.

Resume.

Rewind [timeframe].

Fast-forward [timeframe].

Go back [timeframe].

Jump forward [timeframe].

Next / Next Episode.

Watch from beginning.

If you are controlling live TV for supported apps that feature live TV, you can use the following voice commands:

Go to [channel / network].

Go to [channel / network] on [app].

Watch [channel / network].

Play.

Pause.

Stop.

Resume.

Rewind [timeframe].

Fast-forward [timeframe].

Go back [timeframe].

Jump forward [timeframe].

Watch from beginning.

You can even launch other apps or games by saying “Open [app].” or “Launch [app].

To return to the Fire TV Home screen simply say “Go Home.
