Just installed Kodi 17.1 on Fire TV, addons seem to be working fine except EarthCam. I get the message when trying to view a cam: One or more items failed to play. Check the log for more information about this message. Any Ideas?

    • Hi Joyce, I would suggest trying to uninstall that addon and then reinstall.

      • Joyce Polega

        No luck reinstalling.

        • tom

Could just be that there is a problem with Earth Cam’s site. I would say to try again later

      • Joyce Polega

How do I check the log?

      • SIFlyer

The EarthCam addon does not work in the new Kodi 17.1. The problem is in the Kodi 17.1 version. Because the same EarthCam addon still works fine in the Kodi 16.1 version.

    • SIFlyer

Found the fix for the EarthCam addon to work in Kodi 17.1.

Earthcam uses the RTMP protocol which was disabled by default in Kodi 17, so no video.

To switch it back on go into SystemAdd-OnsMy add-onsVideoPlayer InputStream. Enable ‘RTMP Input’ and Eartcham should work again.

      • Joyce Polega

That worked. Thank you so much.

        • SIFlyer

          You’re welcome.

  • Tommy Ktutz

When I do an update from 17 to 17.1 do I need to delete and do a fresh start?

    • tom

Yes it’s always best to do a fresh install

  • Keith Corso

So in the end what performance improvements might one see since the reading the list of bug fixes is like reading Greek to me.

  • Harveymom0006

Hi there i have just updated kodi to the 17.1 and upon initial load it gets halfway complete than goes to fire stick home screen. when i choose kodi again its a blank screen. Do i need to uninstall?

    • tom

I would uninstall Kodi and try again. If that doesn’t work, I usually reset to factory settings and start over. that usually fixes everything

  • Kris Sandlin

I have a VPN on my computer, will that work through the internet and when I use Kodi?

    • Dash Riprock

If u use Kodi on computer… if u use a streaming box, u need VPN on it or VPN on ur router… VPN on router covers ALL devices (roku, firetruck, tablets, phones, PC etc) that stream via kodi…

      • Kris Sandlin

        Thank you

  • Cindy, if you get my free Supercharge Guide, I go through all of that – http://troypoint.com/supercharge-fire-tv-stick/

    • Jaime Thurman

I tried the super charge guide and the instructions are not for 17.1. Screens & menus are completely different.

      • Hi Jaime, not sure what you are referring to here. The guides were recorded for 17.0 and nothing has changed from 17.0 to 17.1 in terms of the way it looks. You must h ave a different fork of Kodi installed or you are using a different skin than what 17.1 comes default with.

        • R u by chance using spinztv build?

        • Jaime Thurman

Hmmm, I downloaded it according the directions in your video. No sure what happened.

  • iStacey Richardson

I had a fire stick and everything always loaded fine. I just got a fire tv box and there are no movies when it loads and when I follow the tutorial a lot of the options I’m supposed to click on aren’t available on my menu. I’ve uninstalled and installed five times and it does the same thing every time. I’ve tried both the Jarvis and kodi stable.

  • lookforjack1 .

17.1 sucks. Buffering issues are way worse. Is there a way to go back to jarvis?

  • LRay1115

Since doing your upgrade to 17.1 I am having more issues with buffering and streams not loading. Is there a tweak for this? TIA

  • Heather Fox

Hi, I have Kodi version 16.1 (Fire Tv) and Exodus is running extremely slow (buffering every minute) It was working great up until 3 days ago. I did a little digging on the Internet and most people are say 16.1 no longer supports Exodus that you need to upgrade to Kodi 17… is this true or is there another way to resolve the problem.

  • atc

please help. cannot add fusion. get error. cannot add exodus. Kodi Jarvis, stopped working, blank screen when starting so i downloaded 17 and having issues

    • Eddy

reformat kodi. Ren-install kodi 16.1 if you have an older model Android box Lolipop 5.1 or older ( I believe)

  • Jay Johnson

After updating to 17.1, addons move exceptionally slow (i.e. 1-3 minutes to load a list of movies in Exodus et al). Is anyone else having this issue? Are there any fix actions?

    • Milky Thumbs

I’m having the same problem and it’s really frustrating. Jarvis worked really well for me

    • Paul Bray

same problem here. Deleted Jarvis before installing Krypton, and Exodus is running painfully slow. Tried updating twice on my new Fire tv with no success. Cannot find any help through internet searches. Will have to go back to Jarvis. The reliable hd streams are dwindling, but I can at least use Exodus there. Please post if you find any helpful information.

Has Kodi been shutdown by the Feds or was their website hacked?

  • Janet Dunn

Just got my firestick and I have version 17.1. I have no tv shows, its just shows 2 dots (the back screen) when I go to tv shows. Movies work just fine however. Please help!

  • dlsgirl39

i can’t seem to get fusion to load, it keeps telling me it failed to install from addon….what to do what to do

  • Lawrence

updated frm 17.0 >17.1 on windows 10 now kodi won’t load at all

    • Christine Vignale

Go to %AppData%KodiuserdataDatabase in the Explorer and delete Addons27.db. Kosi should start once you do this.

      • Guillermo Díaz

going nuts about this issue, now its resolved!!! Many thanks Chris..

    • Jim W Gash

I’ve down loaded Kodi on my laptop. But it just will not fire up and run. I’m sure t will be fixed some time in the near fueture.

  • Ivan Timofeev

No subtitles on Kodi 17.1 for Android (Amazon Fire TV). Subs are searchable and downloadable, but not displayed at all. Also, no 1080p movies, only HD. Performance speed hasn’t changed. All in all – a totally crappy Kodi update.

  • Julie Kirner

Thank you thank you thanks!!! I’m not the best when it comes to downloading and such but you and your site was a life saver!! great simple instructions and loved the photos to guide me step by step! <3

  • Joni Trembley

I updated Kodi on my android box last nite, I am not a real technical person, I followed the tutorial that came in the announcement when I turned the box on the other nite. I did get stuck in a couple spots and it took about 2 hours start to finish and some of it I am not even sure how I did it. But it seemed to be working last nite. I am looking forward to catching up on a few shows, as I haven’t been able to watch much since last week. I just hope I won’t have to do it again soon, lol.

  • Larry Bandy

up graded to kodi 17 on windows 8.1, now kodi will not open. Anyone have any idea why.

  • Randy

Ares Wizard is still saying this version 17.1 Krypton is unstable then why is everyone saying it is. It has not worked correctly since I installed and I cannot watch a movie without it just stopping. I’m using TopTutorials as my build. I think I’m going back to Jarvis and staying there until they say 18.1 is stable then I’ll use 17.1. Being in software development myself I’m forced to get the latest upgrades but its not been working on my Fire TV. Troy please give your insights because PULSE wont even get installed on 17.1 should we stick with 16.1 for another few months?

  • sean

so updated to Kodi 17 on my mx111 tv box and now says library empty etc.How do i go back to 16.1

  • sean

if i go to factory reset on my tv box will it go back to what i had before i updated to v17

    • Denver Jarvis

No I don’t believe so I think it will uninstall Kodi and other apps

      • sean

you are right it did.I have installed 16 now and a few things working but lost all saved data.
Anyone know how to make a saved favourites log

  • Dennis Weir

  • Jimmy Moscoso

Is anyone having issue with the 1080p movies add on from Dandymedia? This used to be money for me for watching high quality movies and now I keep getting load errors. Just wondering if anyone is experiencing similar issues. Thanks.
